CRAZY Crazy," they tell me When I talk to them who whisper The quiet whisperings softly on my mind. I hear them busy with buzzing; the spoken, The whimpering, weeping, wandering ones. They stir my thoughts, whirl in their Whirlwind of emotion and confusion, Color my thoughts with shades of cobalt and crimson.” On IntuitionLearning to recognize your intuition as a finely tuned instrument takes some care and training. It can come to you as a “gut feeling” or even a flit of a thought. I have learned over the course of my lifetime that those fleeting thoughts, ones I might have paid no attention to when they came to me, were of importance moments or even weeks later. This article is written to help you learn to recognize your intuition (all levels) and take action by incorporating your imagination. By learning to pay attention to the subtle signals firing in your brain and being, and then turning them into pictures in your mind, you can change or enhance your life. Intuition is something with which we are all born. It can be that feeling you get after you’ve done something that says you’re going to regret what you did. It’s also the feeling that you know the phone is going to ring -- and it does; or you have an idea who might be on the on the line – and it is! Intuition also warns you away from an area or alerts you to call someone who is in need of your care and concern at that moment. From out of nowhere, the name or thought of a close friend or relative pops into your mind and you call them. If you’ve done this, what is the first thing they say when they hear your voice on the phone? “I was just thinking about you.” Yes they were, and you felt them thinking about you, so you called. This is intuition! Some experts (which I am not) ascertain that intuition is a person’s High Self or God Self sending them messages to help guide them along their path. Others call it a Guardian Angel or Guide. Intuition has several names. It is important to recognize that it is a natural ability, and it’s important to pay attention to what you feel. I am simply here to de-mystify intuition and give it a form that can be easily understood and digested. Just as we have five physical senses, we also have five extra senses, plus one: intuition, also known as the “sixth sense.” Having intuition is a commonly recognized and accepted form of feeling, but mention the words “psychic sense” and people start looking at you, wide-eyed, like you’re going to possess them with your powers! Don’t buy into the paradigm that “not everyone has all the senses.” To that I say nonsense! We (most of us) are born with all five physical senses intact. I believe the same holds true with our extra senses; they just need proper exercise to develop. With that, let’s go over our five basic extra senses, which can assist you in the development and use of your intuition. Sight: This sensory “organ” is located between our physical eyes which, by the way, are designed to take information in through two devices (two eyes), and then bring the two pictures together to blend into one form. This is a perfect description of the “third eye,” which is located just between and above the brows on the forehead. This is where imagination is played out, as on a movie screen. This is also the sense that remote viewers use to “see” their targets. (For more information on remote viewing, go to www.remote-viewing.com.) To learn to use your extra vision, you must first relax your physical body and slow your breathing so that you can hear your heartbeat and your breathing. Some call this meditation. Learn how it feels to be in this place. In time you will be able to shift your awareness to this place when you need to see something at a moment’s notice. You may feel lighter, and if you focus your attention on that third eye area and imagine you are seated in an auditorium with a big screen in front of you, you may begin to see dim flashes of pictures or movies being played out. Pay attention to what you see, and then record what you saw for later interpretation. You may see numbers or letters, people or places, and sometimes colors. I do not often see in color; only shadows and forms in colorless motion. On the physical side, because I have spent a good deal of time developing my extra sight, I can physically see energy fields around people, trees, and inanimate objects. I have learned to turn it on and off at will. It’s simply a matter of adjusting your consciousness slightly higher to see “more.” I’d like to suggest that you read Barbara Brennan’s “Hands of Light.” She offers some helpful exercises in developing sight. Hearing: This sense has been the culprit behind the accusations of “voices in my head,” “the little birdie told me,” the cute little angel and devil on your shoulder, arguing back and forth, and more seriously it has been the cause of some of those poor souls who are extra-sensitive and are driven mad with the voices they hear. I have been sensitive to hearing voices, which I later learned were the beckonings of the departed, wherever they may be, since I was a young child. People still look at me strangely when they see me carrying on a two-way conversation with no-one else. I find myself having to sleep with a small fan on in my room all night so that I am not distracted by the people who are trying to get my attention. The white noise seems to help quiet my mind. Every once in a while, though, they manage to get a very physically audible (to me) “Lori!” which sometimes makes me sit bolt upright in my bed. In these cases I take the time to listen, and then nod off to sleep, when what I should do is write down what they are telling me; in a perfect world, maybe. It’s not that easy at 2:45 a.m. Sometimes the information (in verbal form) will seem to come from outside your physical body, just above and to the side of your head. This is how I receive it. And sometimes, it comes from inside your head. It can be difficult to discern your own thoughts from those hitting your radar, and sometimes the only way you know the difference is that the answers or responses you get will be those that you normally would not think of on your own. This sense can also be fine tuned by enlisting the help of imagination. Imagine yourself able to hear other people talking. When you’re in traffic or waiting in an office, pick someone, anyone, and “listen in.” You’ll be surprised what you can “hear.” Don’t make the mistake of thinking the thoughts are yours. Once while I was sitting in traffic, I learned that one man had a wife at home, but was returning from his girlfriend’s house; another woman was pondering what she was going to cook for supper that night; yet another woman was sobbing (in her thoughts) over a headache she was experiencing. Touch: This is probably my most favorite heightened sense. The reason is that my physical and extra senses of touch have somehow been able to meet in the middle, and I feel energy with my hands and body. This allows me to be able to physically feel where pain originates on a body. It helps me know where to plant a flower, by feeling over the ground and waiting to feel something different. I imagine I could even use my hands as metal detectors if I so choose. My husband went though a long period of time (three weeks that seemed like three years) of back and shoulder pain, but he could not tell me where exactly he “felt” the pain. To him it was just pain, and it was in his back and shoulders. I focused and shifted my awareness slightly higher, and put myself in “feeling mode”; the palms of my hands had become more sensitive almost instantly and I knew I was ready to find where his pain was originating. I held my hand an inch or two over his back and shoulder blade area, scanning the area until I felt either a hot or cold spot. I found a hot spot in an area between his spine and shoulder blade, in a muscle that seemed to almost be tucked under his shoulder blade. I took my index and middle fingers and pushed on that hot spot. I thought he was going to come out of his skin. He screamed in agony and yelled, “Yes! That’s it!” I felt bad for hurting him, but needed to know the source of the pain. Once it was identified, I was able to focus care in the form of massage, heat, etc., on that area. His back was back to normal in about a week. Here’s how to feel energy with your hands. Hold your hands in front of you, palms touching each other, prayer style. Now, slowly move your hands away from each other to about 12 inches apart. With your right hand, use your index finger to point at the palm of your left hand and move it up and down as though you’re drawing a line up and down your left palm. What you should feel is a slight tugging or pulling or movement feeling in the palm and fingers of the left hand. If you don’t feel anything, move your hands closer together and repeat until you feel movement. You are feeling the energy of your right hand. This if fun to do with two people. Some people are less sensitive to touch, but this can be developed, as well. If you had success with the palm/finger touch and you have a partner to work with you, you can even feel movement from across a room. Try it! Smell: The best way, in my understanding, that smell has been used psychically is as a means of contact from the other side. People have reported to smell the tobacco of a departed grandfather, or the perfume of a grandmother or some other close relative. The key word here is “close.” It seems that the deeper the bond, the better the sense of smell can be utilized. I have been in my car driving home from work and smelled popcorn from seemingly out of nowhere. When I arrived home, I found that my children had had their friends over, and noted two empty microwave popcorn bags in the trash can. I suppose I should be thankful the popcorn bags made to the trash bin! From what I understand, psychic smell is a passive sense; I know of no way to develop this sense. If anyone has had any experience in developing psychic smell, please forward your response to contact@mirrorwaters.com. I’ll gladly post them in this article as an update. Taste: This is a sense which I have only experienced once or twice in my lifetime. It is closely related to smell, as are our physical abilities of taste and smell. I cannot even recall the incidents, except to say that the liquid I was drinking tasted nothing like what it was supposed to be. I’m sorry I can’t explain further, but I would rather not offer information on something I have no experience in. Again, I know there are those out there who can offer insight on this subject, so please start typing away and send in what you would like to share. Once you have practiced and exercised your senses, please write and let us know of your experiences! We’d love to share them, if you would. © Mirror Waters Lorilee Nelson January 20, 2006 |
